Kopi Luwak - Civet Coffee..It's new to me!

"Waiter :  Coffee Mam?
Answer:   ehmm..Tea for me please..."

That's exactly my reaction everytime being offered for a cup of Coffee. I'm actually a Tea person. English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Chamomile...NEVER ever Green Tea;-) The beautiful selection of tea from Twinings, Boh, Lipton & AhmadTea of London.  Just Lovely!

Okay..not gonna talk about tea but Coffee and its the rare Civet Coffee or Kopi Luwak.  Famous in the US & UK?! just came to know bout it from a friend in FB.  She tried a cup of civet coffee @ Bangsar Shopping Centre for a free trial actually it costs around RM30 per cup (RM538.80 per 100gm).  That's bloody expensive! Even Starbucks L size doesn't cost that much. So, just curious and wanted to know more about this Exotic Coffee.  Feel so ignorant, for all the uncountable trips to  Jakarta, Medan, Bali, Bandung...and yet I didn't even know about this Civet Coffee thingy.  Never to late for an additional general knowledge, we learn something new everyday, don't we?

Let's make the explanation from the google search more interesting than essays:-

the quality & price of Kopi Luwak varies
depending on the coffee berries the civet eats..

A Civet..(Luwak in indonesian)

A civet eats coffee berries (feed to)

the poops...

 The process ...

the traditional way..
Of coz this is not the only way of processing civet coffee but i chose
this pix coz its very natural & classic...
"Good to the last dropping!".. cute tag line

the sweetest tast & most flavourful beans
made it
the most expensive coffee in the world...

Exotic coffee indeed but not sure whether the delicacy
worth the price. Try it and decide for yourself!

Quite interesting and informative especially for me! Good to know a lil bit on the rare coffee beans history;-)

p.s:  time to text my Uncles, Cousins in Medan, Jakarta & Bandung to ship one for me..hehe.  Much cheaper there for sure!
