Yayasan Nur Karangkraf - Charity Dinner 2011

HelloYelloMello..

Hmm..now I'm thinking which function for which day now *terover* quite a bz weekend i would say 3 occasions in a row...

Friday - Prince Ayin Birthday Steamboat Dinner
Saturday - Yayasan Nur Karangkraf Charity Dinner
Sunday - The Star's "In Perfect Harmony" Musical Theatre

Cool..Cool super duper love this weekend!

Got two invitations from Kak Ain (My BIL's eldest sister) to attend a Charity Dinner organised by Yayasan Nur Karangkraf at SACC (Convention Centre) last night. Luckily Cik Siti agreed to accompany me to this dinner since Mr.Hubs is too obsessed with EPL which I dun have interest or desire at all  to watch any football game be it, the RED DEVIL or THE REDS couldn't care less hahaha (no offence to all their fans out there).

This was my first time attending function at SACC Convention Centre...

Lovely Door Gifts...Chocolate *Majlis Santapan Amal 2011*, Heart Shape Cookie & Green Apple

 We were there at 7:30pm...

As usual in every dinner function, we've gotta wait for the VVIP, VIP so on and so forth....
same goes to this dinner plus a darn slow service from the whole team of waiter & waitresses....
food wasn't sattisfying...

I guess I have put in too much of expectations towards the service as well as the food there. SACC Convention Centre definitely needs lots of  improvement!

As for today's activity, we spent our Sunday afternoon watching "In Perfect Harmony" Musical- Matinee (3pm) at KLPAC

Thank you to my lovely BOSS,  for the tickets (Perfect Seats)!  Btw, the review on this Musical soon to follow together with my long outstanding entry on The Secret Life of Nora  ;-)

PUBLIKA...

Birthday Entry lagii.....!! Haha...sebelum uols cakap centu baik kita citer pasal new place kat Solaris, Dutamas ni yang kita teramatlah sukanyer ^:^

Sebenarnya-benarnya, still no time to sort Evita's Birthday photos yet (bukanlah banyak tapi nak pick & choose yang chantique di mata sendiri). Btw,  I had a full day "PR & Media" Conference on Monday at JW Marriot KL after 2 years tak berseminar & attend course rasa rindu plak nasib baik my lovely boss asked me to join in since she's the Speaker/Course Leader...LUCKY me, TQ boss!

Yesterday,  had to rush for two events one at The Gardens for Make Up For Ever (will story in depth in a separate entry kay) & Raya Open House invitation from one of the travel magazine, Gaya Travel at Palm Garden Hotel, IOI Resort (perggh...driving has never been easy for me even with GPS) oleh kerana tidak mengikut perintah GPS, tiba-tiba destinasi hotel bertukar jadi The Palace of The Golden Horses..pusing balik daa! Finally after a stressful ONE hour journey jumpa jugak destinasi sebenar The Palm Garden Hotel *gelakkan diri sendiri*

HELLOOO....Tajuk sebenar entri ni PUBLIKA! Okay...okay  its actually a new shopping centre (ala2 Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas) cuma lebih classy, bigger & nice..oh yeah Marc Jacobs opening soon there! Tak percaya tengok gambo2 ni kalau tak percaya jugak ha pi la singgah minum2, makan2 & chat2 kat Wau Penyu, Bistari or Papa Rich @ Solaris Dutamas area SOHO & Mont Kiara tu.
The fountain & The stage....COOL!
behind this stage is where MAP (Black Box & White Box located) tempat theatre & Arts Exhibition

Photography exhibition going on till that Sunday, Sept 25.

Our in house "Seniman" ...artsy eksi hahaha

Usually it annoys me when people took photo in the Rest Room/toilet...huhhh tetiba terbuat untuk diri sendiri
one bloody nice Rest Room indeed!

@ black box....

This is why we were there at black box....
The Three Sisters an adaptation of Anton Chekhov's play (a Russian Author)
Directed by Razif Hashim (8TV Quickie host)...*lola's pic with him too blurry to post it here*
As usual, Tq to KAKISENI for an informative website..

dah kena virus BB....PING!

A promising performance from the final year students of Drama & Speech, Blubricks Learning Studio..
Though one of the casts rather sound like a 'Nyonya' than a Baron's wife...sorry really a disturbing acting!

Anyway we enjoyed the Play as well as the Place.  Hope more stage play coming up next!

Okay folks Bye...! I wanna listen to the news, there was a massive explosion happened at Empire Gallery Subang early this morning oh dear!!!!

Lady Swettenham...

"Swettenham" does it sounds familiar?  How bout Port Swettenham? Can you recall where is it? Or may be Swettenham Pier? Oh come on people..a bit of Malaya History  here ;-)   Okay, nevermind I dun want anybody to feel stress reading my blog and wondering what in the world is 'she mumbling' about. Yeah.. fully  understand it's been ages since your last History class or even flipping through the school history book and may not know how does it look like anymore.  Same here, but now 'Google' has it all without having to have the physical book in front of you.

Port Swettenham - now Port Klang or Pelabuhan Klang was named after Frank Swettenham.  As well as the Swettenham Pier, Goergetown in Penang with more than 100 years history (of coz with major expansion in the recent years).  The Penangites should know better....^-^

Sir Frank Athelstane Swettenham, the first Resident General of Malay States in the 18th century and Lady Swettenham or Connie was his wife.

A classic oil-painting potrait of him but couldn't find any photos of  his wife, Lady Swettenham...

May not be as famous as Stamford Raffles Statue in Singapore but still....

A statue of Frank Swettenham within the compound of Muzium Negara....*when was your last visit?*
Hmm..I know decades ago during school trip "Rombongan Sambil Belajar" kan ;-)

A talented & well known theatre figure, Sabera Shaik as Lady Swettenham in this historic monologue (a dramatic solo performance in which a single actor speaks alone).  She acted flawlessly during the amazing 50minutes show.  She moved from one character to another smoothly, the change of voice & gestures, one minute she was her brother Cecil,  the next she was Lady Swettenham in her teen, then Kassim the Malay helper, etc..etc...and back to the old depressed Lady again.   That was superb!  We the audience could feel & imagine all the people, the sadness, the pressure of being away from her family in England & her depressive episodes in her life.

A big round of applause for Sabera Shaik!

Sabera Shaik in action.... SHE NAILED IT!!
Masakini Theatre Co SB *click*  is her own theatre company

This show was held at the same mansion which was built as the official residence of Sir Frank Swettenham in late 18th century and was named by him as Carcosa .....

I luv this pic, we took this photo during 'Senja' at Carcosa on  Thurs, 31.3.2011
right before we had drinks & food at the verandah...

the ambiance, dim lighting ...complement each other

Many thanks to Kakiseni Women:100 *2 thumbs up*

There are two mansions or bungalows there, the other one is Seri Negara or originally named as The King's house .  Today, anyone can always drop by both at Carcosa Seri Negara to have a cup of tea, fine dining or even check-in there!  You can check-out the rates of this luxury hotel located at Lake Garden & photos of the Victorian style room here.

"History teaches everything including the future.."

p.s:

History & Science, between the two subjects in school I luv History more!!! It's so interesting till I can easily memorize the years bla..bla...errrr that was THEN with my fresh young mind of coz.  NOW,  Google simplify everything *muaahhhhhhhh*

The Celebrities Club @ Solaris, Mont Kiara

Grand Chandelier at the entrance...

Its also called Celebrities Hall of Music, a new stage (considered new coz they just opened in April last year)  for an urban performing arts with lounge & restaurant concept.   A very cozy interior with multi-levelled semi-circle booth seats and tiny round tables...I just luv the 'Jazzy' touch, absolutely a stunning Club! Btw, it's owned by our Malaysian R&B Queen, Ning Baizura, she definitely has an impeccable taste in opening such a classy Club like this.

The Eve of Adam show last nite....by Shelah's Drag Army

That's 'SHELAH' Edwin Sumun's stage name.  1st time seeing him as a drag queen, berkebaya konsep batik 1Malaysia lagi with matching shoes (ala tak nampak).  Lawak 18sx skit la...bila dia nyanyi suara not bad sedap gak but then got distracted by his next sexy outfit ...hahaha

Guess what?! Just before the show, dalam sibuk2 mencari spot menarik nak duduk & my hubs decided to sit kat atas-atas (dia takut kena tarik atas pentas hahaha tak sporting betul) tetiba bump into my friend from the Yellow telco, the jovial Shireen Koh, she & the whole Yellowans gang (tapi I tak brapa kenal).  So she joined us and 'dumped' her friends..ahaks!.  It was nice to see her again after more than 2yrs...catchin' up on the Yellow HQ stories.  The show...Okayla, entertaining and  humorous.

There'll be another show "Muzik Ku: Muzik Mu" (Women:100) at Celebrities Club next week & also tonite.  More info just click here.  I've already booked mine for 1st April *wink* See yeah!  Just incase you guyz wanna know where and lazy to google it..here's the details:

Terima Kasih Cinta...

Kiranya TKC ni sebagai pembuka tirai for my theatre outing 2011.  Diadaptasi dari filem CINTA yang teramat popular beberapa tahun dulu mengisahkan tentang kisah 5 keajaiban cinta arahan Khabir Bhatia dan isterinya Mira Mustapha selaku penulis skrip.  To be honest, I didn't watch the movie masa semua orang sebok2 pegi tengok kat wayang dulu.  Errr..can't recall why?! Maybe at that time was too busy with work what else kan.  Cuma masa ditayangkan kat Astro Raya movies (if I'm not mistaken) I happened to watch it itupun halfway then tetidur *oopsie*  Anyhoo..I read the synopsis and lots of good reviews about the movie as well as this musical theatre.

Tuesday, 1st March - not so many people at Istana Budaya,  mungkin sebab ramai yang dah lama gi tengok masa awal2 lagi ataupun some people prefer pergi tengok on the last day of the show coz they'll be something extra on the performance (usually). Masa buat booking tiket online pun masih ada beratus-ratus lagi ticket.  Ticket prices range from RM300 to RM30. There's a RM3 admin charges if you book through Ticket2U.biz.

booked, paid & collected....

 8:30pm...showtime!

Tiket untuk dua orang tapi memandangkan kekanda tidak berapa berminat dengan teater ni, bukan apa cuma takut dia terlelap dan terus berbunyik *#@*#  kecuali teater Muzikal Tun Mahathir tahun lepas itupun tak lain tak bukan kerana Tun M...!

Cik Siti jadi partner tengok TKC @ Istana Budaya....

Siapa pelakon-pelakon utama TKC? Bagaimanakah  penghayatan watak & suara nyanyian mereka dalam teater ni?

Latiff Ibrahim - sebagai Cikgu Elias
kalau nak ikutkan dah lama jugak tak tengok Latiff Ibrahim berlakon especially menyanyi.

pemilik Cafe di mana Cikgu Elias selalu minum...seriously, suara Safura not bad at all, lakonan dah tentulah bagus macam kita tengok dia belakon dalam drama-drama tv.  Watak ni sangat sesuai untuk dia.

Tony Eusoff - sebagai Haris
walaupun teater bahasa melayu pertama bagi Tony Eusoff, double thumbs up for him!!! He was darn good...penghayatan watak pun 101% tak boring and kaku.  Bagus sangat.

Norish Karman - sebagai Airin (isteri kepada Haris)
malam tu Norish hilang suara sikit *sexy voice* yelah dah 10 hari on stage kan..dia cakap pun perlahan tapi still boleh dengar, tetap tak mengganggu lakonan dia.  But then I noticed dialog dia tak brapa banyak sangat pun. Tak sangka suara Norish sedap jugak.

Shajiri - sebagai Azlan (usahawan )
secara jujur dari dulu kini selamanya memang tak minat  Shajiri, lakonan dia tak ada umpphhh la malam tu macam "trying so hard" and suara pun termengah-mengah di pertengahan lagu coz ada dance movement sikit. Sedikit hancurla.  Rasanya ramai lagi pelakon lain lebih layak bawak watak Azlan ni.

Faradhiya - sebagai Azura (pekerja kedai buku)
she's so pretty, simple and excellent voice *ehemmm maklumla dia pakai warna PINK* btw, wardrobe diorang menarik sangat warna putih, hitam, pink, hijau, kuning, orange...nice!  kay, going back to her acting and singing, she's good ! I like her...

Deja Moss - sebagai Dyan
kali pertama tengok Deja Moss berlakon teater, sebelum ni cuma tau dia seorang penyanyi tapi kalau tanya lagu-lagu dia pun tak ingat.

pernah tengok dia berlakon cerita Merah Putih @TV3 dulu...bagus cuma masa tu tak tau nama dia, then barula tau dia bekas penyanyi kumpulan Luscious (reality show MyStar LG kalau tak silap) watak dia macam ceria & gedik..really suits her.  Dia nyanyi banyak jugak lagu berbanding Vince..

Vince - sebagai Taufiq
jadi nerdy..hahaha cute je bahasa melayu dia pun dah semakin improve.  Tapi kecewa sikit, dia cuma nyanyi satu, dua lagu je.."I want more...!!!!" Hmmmmm suara Vince tetap hebat.

Mintak maaflah ye kerana menggunakan 'bahasa rojak' dalam entry ni sebab fikiran pun dah ala-ala rojak..masih ada kesan 'food overdose' akibat  Mee Siam + the two REDs (Red Velvet & Red Box) with my old frenz last nite.  Peningggg ^-^ Tomorrow another round of "Makan-Makan".

Selamat bermalam minggu!
