Naturally You.....

Make up is a woman's best friend though there are some (minority) who do not use make up at all but at least one's must have a lipstick in her handbag. As for me I only have basic make up stuff in my small make up pouch, a compact powder & a two different colours of lipstick "Red & Pink".

I have a confession to make here, errr... I bought a Mascara for the first time last week, like seriously..I've never had one of my own. But of coz I've used it before during my wedding, a few dinner functions, the photoshoot for OSIM U-Zap advert, the make over for Female mag & Curlers n Trimmers Hair Salon bla..bla..bla..but all were done by a professional Make Up Artist.

Among all I was so impressed with Teddy Suriady Lim, a pro make up artist from Indonesia who did my make up for Female make over thingy. He had used the perfect blend of foundation, blusher, everything on my face was just perfect and I luv the result so very much! Coz Its not easy to do a make up for those with tanned skin tone okay!*hmmm*  Speaking from experience, some make up artists tend to make my face look very dull & even darker by choosing the wrong foundation, eye shadow colour & stuff *grrrrrr..* Smokey Eyes a big NO!NO! for me~

If you ask me what type of make up I prefer, I would choose something light and natural nothing heavy or drama. Just like the latest one I had with Make Up For Ever at The Gardens, Midvalley sometime before Aidilfitri this year. Actually, I was a 'stand-in model' and would rather call it  'work related'  photoshoot for Make Up For Ever Paris at The Gardens, Mid Valley outlet with Professional Make Up Artist from Singapore, Eddie..

Here's the article/news coverage came out in Utusan ...(Sept 2011)

Curlers' Angels.....

Yippie...!! The article on our 'Trendy Hair Style' w Annita Hisham, professional hair stylist/owner of Curlers & Trimmers came out in The News Straits Times dated 22 Dec 2010 (yesterday)..
Lifestyle-Page 2....

Don't strain your eyes trying to read the scan copy text coz its way too small...!

Here you go.....

Go for a street style
NST-22/12/10

Want to ring in the New Year with a trendy hairstyle? There’s the versatile and easy-to-manage street look, writes SUSHMA VEERA

AS the year is coming to an end, many of us are looking forward to welcome the New Year.

A New Year often emerges with a number of trendy and fascinating trends. So, why not make our crowning glory more beautiful with the latest fashion trends?

“In 2011, most people will go for the street look,” says professional hair stylist Annita Hisham, artistic director of Curlers & Trimmers Sdn Bhd. She believes that the look will work wonders for all.

“Many people don’t know how to play around with their hair. The street look is versatile as you can change your hairstyle for work or functions without much fuss.”

Annita adds that her predictions incorporate short, long and straight and curly hairstyles. “It will encourage you to adopt more versatile and trendy looks. And it is economical as it is targeted at the working professional as well as those who can’t find time to go to the hair saloon. Looking at the present lifestyle trend, I came up with these ideas.”

In addition to the three predictions for next year, Annita also showed three cool looking styles for vacations. With help from make-up artist Taisu from Shu Uemura, six models were given a makeover at Annita's salon in Desa Sri Hartamas.

Having been in the industry for more than 30 years, the 48-year-old says a hair stylist takes time to ask questions before she styles a customer’s hair.

There are numerous aspects to take into account prior to making a change. The shape of the face, its characteristics, hair texture and skin tone have to be taken note of.
“This is a free personalised consultation for every customer at every visit. It helps the customer to find the right hairdo, perfect shade of colour, right treatment and aftercare for her budget.

“The slightest change to your hairstyle can cause a lasting impact on your looks. So, it is important to get professional advice on the right haircut that suits your face,” she says.

Hair care tips

Upon analysing your hair:
1. Use appropriate shampoo for your hair type.
2. It is a must to apply conditioner after every wash as it helps to close hair cuticles.
3. It is good to use the right “leave-in treatment” after every wash because it will help to protect and fortify hair.
4. Before styling, use styling products to protect hair from direct heat and hold the desired style till the next wash.
5. Once in every four to six weeks, do an intensive hair treatment at the salon to add moisture and protein with the right pH balance. Do home treatment once a week or every 10 days in between salon visits. This helps to make hair healthy.

Truths and myths

1. Myth: You can mend split ends with the right products.
Truth: The best way to treat split ends is to cut the hair. You can also make it less noticeable by applying a product that contains silicone. It will make hair soft and manageable too.

2. Myth: Pluck one grey hair, two or three will sprout in its place.
Truth: Plucking will damage the roots and hair might not be able to grow again.

3. Myth: To get clean hair, you must lather, rinse and repeat.
Truth: One thorough washing will do the trick, with the use of appropriate hair product, otherwise it will dry the scalp.

4. Myth: Colouring hair causes major damage.
Truth: Products today are gentle enough. In fact, some products contain soy and wheat protein to protect hair and leave it more manageable than before. If in doubt, consult your stylist.

5. Myth: You should brush your hair 100 strokes every day.
Truth: Brush it to style it only. Brushing pulls hairs out of their follicles and possibly weaken individual strands.

Annita’s style ideas for vacations:

Tengku Sherina Tengku Rhezal believes in versatility. She wants to look good and have an easy to manage hairdo at the same time. She can style her hair with blow drying lotion and a paddle brush. Annita says this versatile and trendy style complements any attire.

“Sharrolynn D’Cruz loves her curly hair. She did not want to lose the curls. She also prefers a carefree and easy to manage look. I gave her a two-step treatment to boost volume — she’ll be able to flaunt her hair for her holidays.”

Shereen D’Cruz wants to be sexy with long wavy hair. But she has split ends. Annita trimmed her hair and styled it with a big, round hairbrush, before applying serum to give it a lustrous feel.

Annita’s 2011 prediction styles

Teresa Rodrigues used to have long hair. Now she looks stunning with a short blunt bob. The bob is still in but it is more structured and blunt. This hairstyle with asymmetrical bangs suits those with an inverted triangular face.

Annita incorporated a blunt cut with layers to Hafizah Hani Mohd Najib’s straight hair to add volume. It is not wise to thin Hafizah’s hair as it takes away the volume.

Sherona D’Cruz’s long and wavy voluminous hair is still in. Annita predicts that more people will go for this style.

ThankQ dearest readers for taking the time to read it;-) mwahhhhh

Shu Uemura..

Here's the 'recap' from yesterday's photoshoot @ Curlers & Trimmers. Hair retouching done! Ohh.. the invasion of my natural highlights...say no to "Grey" or "Whites" *smiley* Next..MAKE UP TIME!!

There were six of us and only one Annita to re-style our hair in two different themes, "Holiday Mood" & "Prediction for 2011" ....So, its all about 'Hair Style' and at the same time the Make-Up & outfit must also compliment each other.

Shu Uemura.. beauty touch!

With Taisu, the make-up artist....

The 'Holiday' look for me based on  my personality, of coz I always wanna look elegant, stylish and poise even for holiday *must find the nearest Salon..that kind of thing*hahaha..just can't go natural.

Anyway, most of the pix were taken using the gals cam...so, will have to wait till they upload it in FB or else till the CnT article comes out *wink*

Shu Uemura's make-up range and foundation (code no. 934) kinda suit my skin tone & I LUV it! This was my 1st time using Shu Uemura, though I was a bit skeptical at first when they told me its Shu Uemura's make-up. I'm used to Mac, Bobbi Brown, Chanel but not this Japanese cosmetics.  Hey! infact Shu Uemura is under the Loreal group so no big deal just my personal perception. It definitely proved me wrong. Shu Uemura works well for me;-)

Actually, my main concerned was the foundation coz sometimes if it doesn't suit your skin tone you'll end up looking like a clown or even worst the Chinese Opera *no offense* That's why we need a professional make-up artist like Taisu from Shu Uemura, he did a wonderful job. The hair is fantabulous!! Kudos to Annita for making all of us looking fab plus the make-up..oh my, I'm absolutely on a Holiday mood, feels like flying off  for a holiday to Milan, the city of fashion...yeah!!!

To be honest, I'm not into make-up so much I normally need 2 things for my face. ..

compact powder + Lipstick.  Thats it! I'm ready to go.

Unlike my late Mom she had more make-up stuff than us, blusher, eyeshadow, lip liner, mascara bla..bla...she was a 'Dior lady'!  Only recently my sis seems very interested in putting some 'colours' on her face and she started to look up for online make-up tutorial & beauty tips.  She's been talking about this young Vietnamese American, Michelle Phan, you wanna know who? Watch it here.  Pretty cool, the fastest and easiest way to learn basic Make-Up! Good for beginners & absolutely a lot of helpful tips.

XoXo

Curlers & Trimmers w Annita...

Still remember my blog entry last month on Curlers & Trimmers Salon, Sri Hartamas?! Hmm...yeah the "Hair Make Over" thingy and the 3-Day event was a Media "Up-Close & Personal" session with CnT owner, Ms. Annita Hisham.  Here's the articles in Harian Metro, Kosmo & Today's Utusan Malaysia (focusing on Annita & CnT).  Oops! The photo below was taken before the hair cut & during hair consultation with Annita...ahaks my 'old boring hair!

''Setiap pelanggan mempunyai profilnya sendiri.

Makeover...

It has been a long time since my last photoshoot for print ad. That was in 2007 OSIM U-Zap  for Women's Day & Merdeka advertisement in selected newspapers & magazines. Also the longest & most tiring shoot ever from 9am till 9pm (at least for me) no lunch, no dinner what an experience but the ad turned out great though they printed my age as 38 (5 years older than I was then)....hmmm.  I still keep the newspaper cutting actually...but need to scan 'em. Maybe later kay!

If  6 years ago I was in Female magazine for a "Beauty Makeover",  this time around I'm 'IN' for a "Hair Makeover" at Curlers & Trimmers. That was the 3-Day 'event' all about at Desa Sri Hartamas last week.

Monday & Tuesday nothing much just on hair consultation with Annita Hisham ( The Owner of CnT). The real hair finishing/finale started at 10am on Wednesday, cut, colour, highlights...about 4hours process then after that the photoshoot, at 1:45pm till about 4pm. Yabadabadooooo....

Tada... my new hairstyle
I got my POSH 'BACK'...

Thanks to Sherona for the nice shot;-)

This was in between the photoshoot (while waiting for the photographer to 'fine tune' the lighting, angle so on & so forth) Just to share some 'cute' or  I'd take it as quite 'funny' remarks from the photographer:
 1. "okay, give me your full smile, coz when you smile you look more friendly.." *ooopss*
2. " I count 1,2,3 just take a deep breath..Hold it there..."  *double ooopss*
(wanna know why? coz my muffin top/tummy is showing)

This is Annita Hisham the sifu,
the expert, the ever humble & nice lady...I really admire her!

A sweet smile from Sherona D'Cruz (only one alphabet different from my name..thats why Annita jokingly call us 'IN' & 'ON') hahaha..  Million thanks to Sherona for being my 'Stylist' during that photoshoot...tq darling!

More & more 'delayed posts' to come...I was too occupied with appointments last week.  Finally, I'm back on track & have time to blog now...pheww!

Later
