9.9.2010 -  Ermm.. nothing 'extraordinaire' on the celebration of our 11th Wedding Anniversary. 'Happening Party'??! That's the last thing I would think off considering the place (we were back in our hometown AS..) and time (it was on Raya eve...).  Keep it simple & sweet as usual. The thought that counts....

Hari Malaysia..Malaysia Day..

Today, 16th September 2010 has been declared as a nationwide public holiday starting this YEAR!  Oh just a quick info on Malaysia Day or Hari Malaysia...

Malaysia Day is held on September 16 every year to commemorate the establishment of the Malaysian federation on the same date in 1963. It marked the joining together of Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore to form Malaysia. The formation of the new federation was planned to occur on June 1, 1963, but was later postponed to August 31, 1963, in order to coincide with the sixth Hari Merdeka- *Thanx WiKi*

Since its a public holiday and we're still in Raya mood...we've planned to have a 'Raya BBQ' for Nicko's, Boboy's & Loll's friends at  Casamadre.  Not really an 'Open House' or 'House Warming' just a simple Raya 'Chillax' for them.  The 'Menu' from my kitchen will be Royal Chicken Rice &amp Ketupat, Lodeh, Kuah Kacang and a must have Indonesian dishes Tauchu Udang + Pergedil.  *Swell*

As for dessert (besides Raya cookies), just finished baking Chocolate Rice Butter Cake...

 White Wings of course, Chocolate Rice from Amsterdam...chocolaty & milky!

 a slice for the regular 'volunteer' to  taste it...as alwizz;-)

Fuhh...tomorrow would definitely be a super duper busy day.  'Hell Kitchen'?! What time should I start? What should I cook first? Relax...take a deep breath.  Breathe in...Breathe out..Best of Luck to me..!

Not sure where to start so many stories to update from the 1st day in AS to Raya eve then our Anniversary and the most awaited, "Hari Raya Aidilfitri"...hmmm lemme start with the most recent one while it still fresh in mind...My Birthday Celebration last night on September 13.

CARGO-Courier

Oops...This is a delayed post/update on a small "adventure" of ours at the Cargo Village nearby LCCT or KLIA-2 about a week ago.  We wanted to send 5 boxes containing 700pcs of small Spice jars (set of 4) for Nicko's wedding door gifts, I suppose so.  There's no way we can bring all these boxes to AS (Alor Setar) by car.  Best solution no other than flight, but each of us only has 20kg baggage allowance.  Its time to utilize the yearly Cargo rebate benefit. 

The first rebate was utilized in 1999, we sent all my late grandmother's clothes to Medan, Indonesia for donation. At that time via Terminal 1 at Subang Airport.  Can't remember much the process and so on. Since MHubs planned to go back to AS, so its better to arrange the cargo shipment on that day too.  Usually, every year during fasting month we will make sure at least we spend one weekend to visit PIL aka His Mum & Dad and also Gramps.  But this time around since Gramps here, I won't be able to accompany him.  Okay, to cut a long story short and back to the Cargo story.  Firstly,  we're not sure which entrance to enter....

must get a Visitor Pass... from??? The Administration building at the other side of the main entrance

Security Check - Laptop check, details of the content...bla bla..blah...

Pass through the 1st security stage, next we need to get a Vehicle Pass at MAS Cargo Administration office.  Got it!

Step 1:  Unloading all the boxes at the designated loading bay...

Step 2:  Fill up the form etc & The total weight was:

About 2 hours handling process plus the security check here and there and 'someone' almost missed his flight that afternoon.  Fuhhh...! No, he didn't, what a relieve;-) Anyway, all the boxes arrived safely at AS airport the next day.  Hope  they will 'spice up' the jars creatively and make a nice door gifts, then its worth the effort of bringing them from KUL to AOR by MH flight.

*Yawn* Better sleep early today, need to send Gramps tomorrow morning at SkyPark, Subang Airport.  Have to be there by 7:30am at least an hour before the flight.

Hari Raya Greeting Cards..Chasing Lights + Deco...

                                                        
Evergreen Raya song by Saloma...unforgettable and unbeatable song of all time! Raya Countdown -  less than a week from now. Nicko was busy putting up the musical chasing lights at Casamadre. I guess we're the first and the only one who has it at this gated and guarded neighbourhood.  Where's the raya spirit? Hmmm...Suburb!!! Well, used to it.  Oh yeah..this morning, I saw some bamboo torch  at the main entrance and also Raya deco at the guardhouse. Nice..! At least something.

Raya cards, I didn't buy any and  received only one card this year, I know it sounds pathetic but seriously nowadays we send E-cards thru email, greetings through facebook, twitter, MySpace, 'just click' without hassle to go to the post office etc..etc..Quick, Easy & FOC;-)

can be recycled as Raya Green (Money) packets...interesting & brilliant idea!

Turn ON your Raya (festival)  mode but not to OFF your Puasa (fasting) mode as yet *smile*

Liese Bubble Hair Colour...No. 1 Styling Brand in Japan is now available in Malaysia.  My Sis bought Milky Tea Brown at SASA Pavilion for RM38+.  For Me? No, I didn't buy for myself but I've volunteered to be Loll's Hairstylist to take on this first 'trial' huhu...I LIKE!!!

Satisfactory results, safe for scalp and its permanent.  Lolls new hair colour is much better now, brownish no more Black & Dull.  Excellent choice.

No marching, No Parade for us...off to The Historical State, Malacca...yahooooo;-) I think among the 14 states in Malaysia, I really adore Malacca, besides its historical background and the heritage trail, Malacca always has a special spot in my heart ever since my CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) days at the "Yellow" HQ.  The Portuguese language preservation under our D'Amazing Malaysian project was a memorable experience of all.  So many sweet memories back then *sob..sob*.  

Reached Masjid Tanah around noon went straight to Nicko's rented house at Taman Cherry Indah just for a quick visit. We've already booked a room at Everly Resort Hotel, Pantai Klebang for a day use.  No plans to stay overnight in Malacca, a bit tedious with Gramps around.  So, just a comfy place for us to freshen-up and relax before and after breaking of fast. 

Everly Resort Hotel (formerly known as Riviera Bay Resort Malacca)..MAS used to have several units here for the staff facilities. We were among the lucky ones who had the opportunity to stay at Riviera (many years ago) at a very minimal rate per night in a two bedroom apartment and also a few other family hols at Tanjung Tuan Beach Resort, Port Dickson & The Pines Resort, Fraser's Hill with late Mom (Mama). That was then, now no more apartment units owned by the national carrier:-(

Asam Pedas Kota Laksamana...

Honestly, no doubt the place is famous, also crowded, yet overrated. I don't think there will be a second time for us, nothing special about the Asam Pedas.  I think Brahim's Asam Pedas & Mak Nyonya Asam Pedas sauce taste better no need to drive all the way to Kota Laksamana.  There are so many stalls and Asam Pedas restaurant in Malacca Town.  The choice is YOURS!

Back to the hotel for snack & coffee time. We left Everly around 10pm. Reached home safe and sound 2hrs later. zzzzzz......

ButterCake...

Cake!!! My favourite topic of all. Chocolate Cake, Fruit Cake, Orange Cake, Cheese Cake, Butter Cake so many choices @ Secret Recipe, Zen, Just Heavenly a lot more but when it comes to baking, its a bit of a 'challenge for me..haha.  Always simplify things according to your capabilities;-) Here's my super fast homemade baking moment with White Wings Cake Mix, an Australian Brand since 1898 fuhh! can be considered as heritage...

 it only took me 8 minutes for the prep (just add eggs, butter & milk)

IKEA "BLUES"...

The never ending story of the cutlery set Gramps wanted.  The Daily IKEA offer price @ RM39 (only valid on Aug 5) while the  Normal Price  is RM59.   He keeps asking the same question over and over again..."When can we go to IKEA again?", "Is it far from our house?", " Where exactly..Subang or Damansara?".  Alright, IKEA it is...Its  Saturday! Its gonna be crowded and PARKING NIGHTMARE...arrggghh!!
